Corporate Officer positions for 2010 have been filled. Carol Meyers has been elected as our President. We welcome Carol to her new role and wish to express our gratitude to Sara Thomas who steps down leaving our Rescue in a far better condition than when she took charge two years ago. Robin Noblin remains our Corporate Secretary. Paula Roy has been elected to another term as Vice President. Paul Roy remains our Treasurer. The Board of Directors is also pleased to announce that Gail Hanson and Tim Noblin have decided to join our Board. We welcome Gail and Tim and look forward to their contributions as we strenghten our committment to our breed.

Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue (SoAZBR) is a charitable, non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to beagle and beagle-mix dog rescue, education on the breed and general animal welfare. Formed in October 2005, we serve all of southern Arizona, including Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz and Pinal counties.

We provide rescue, education, as well as training and referral services for homeless beagles as well as families needing to re-home their beagle. We work with both purebred beagles and beagle mixes.

At SoAZBR we have several goals:

(1) To rescue and re-home adoptable shelter beagles that otherwise would be put to death.
(2) To offer beagle owners an educational resource with regard to the care and love of their beagle.
(3) To assist dog owners that can no longer keep their beagle.
(4) To provide beagles and the people who love them a fun, local community.
(5) To educate the public on the responsibilities of pet ownership as well as the importance of spaying and neutering one’s pets.
(6) To support and promote other animal rescue organizations.

SoAZBR actively supports spay/neuter programs, advocates responsible dog ownership and partners with animal rescues across the country to assist in finding good homes for needy animals. SoAZBR does not have a shelter facility and has no paid staff. All work is done by our wonderful volunteers. The dogs we rescue are fostered in the loving homes of our dedicated volunteers until a suitable home can be found. These foster families provide a safe, nurturing home and nutritious food. SoAZBR covers any medical expenses, including immunizations and spay/neuter services. All dogs placed by SoAZBR are altered prior to placement.

SoAZBR donation fees range from $75 to $225 for each dog, depending on that dog's age and special circumstances. All of this money is used to offset spay/neuter fees as well as any medical treatments the dog may require. Please check out our Adoption page for more information on adopting a needy beagle!
